FIELD: testing and measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related specifically to methods for determining the resistance of ammunition to external thermal influences. The method of testing ammunition for slow heating includes placing the ammunition in a heating device, subsequent heating it with a given rate of temperature increase and accompanying temperature control inside the heating device, on the surface and in the cavity of the ammunition. During the heating process, the amount of pressure and the rate of its increase in the cavity of the ammunition are additionally controlled, and in the case of case ammunition, in its cartridge case, with the possibility of recording the change in pressure preceding the explosion of the ammunition charge.
EFFECT: increase of the accuracy of measurements and the safety of testing, while simultaneously preserving the equipment used.
