FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: fertilizer composition with slow release of nutrients and a method for its preparation. A slow-release fertilizer composition is proposed, containing nitrogen fertilizer particles coated with at least one layer comprising at least one polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) and at least one adhesive agent, wherein at least one specified layer has an average thickness of 1 up to 200 mcm, where at least one adhesive agent is selected from: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), pectin, sulfonated lignin, saturated or unsaturated C₆-C₂₆ fatty acids and glycerides thereof, or mixtures thereof. Also a method for producing a slow-release fertilizer composition is proposed, which includes: introducing nitrogen fertilizer particles into an apparatus adapted to maintain these particles in motion; spraying an aqueous suspension of at least one PHA, further containing at least one adhesive agent, in the apparatus, so that this aqueous suspension is deposited on the surface of the moving particles; drying the moving particles to which the aqueous suspension is applied so as to obtain a layer including at least one PHA, wherein at least one adhesive agent is selected from: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), pectin, sulfonated lignin, saturated or unsaturated C₆-C₂₆ fatty acids and their glycerides, or mixtures thereof.

EFFECT: invention guarantees a slow-release fertilizer composition that provides the use of biodegradable and biocompatible materials that allow the slow release of fertilizer into the nutrient medium without causing the accumulation of products harmful to the environment.
