FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of precious metal carriers as part of three-path catalysts, as well as catalysts for the purification of automobile exhaust gases. First, an aqueous solution of an inorganic compound comprising aluminium is prepared, for which sodium aluminate is used. The prepared solution is mixed with an aqueous acid solution at a constant pH value from 6.0 to 8.0 inclusive, while precipitating aluminium hydroxide. Then a water-soluble lanthanum salt is introduced as a stabilizer in an amount of 0.5-4 wt.% inclusive in terms of lanthanum oxide from the mass of the final oxide. The pH of the mixture is adjusted to 8.0-9.5 by adding an aqueous solution of the base. The precipitate is filtered off and washed with an aqueous solution of the same base until the residual Na2O content does not exceed 0.030 wt.%. The washed product is fed for repeated filtration, after which it is dried and fired.
EFFECT: stability of the specific surface area and porosity of the resulting aluminium oxide powder stabilized by lanthanum oxide increases.
