FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to medical diagnostics, and can be used for detection of single-stranded and double-stranded DNA breaks in male germ cells. Male ejaculate sample is diluted in vitro in fluorescein-labelled hyaluronic acid medium. Obtained results are compared with a biocompatible material consisting of bacterial cellulose to which fluorescein-labelled hyaluronic acid is attached. Fluorescence intensity of the biocompatible material is taken as 100%. Spermatozoa have a minimum number of DNA breaks and are genetically adequate with reduction of fluorescence intensity of the ejaculate sample in medium to 40% relative to the control. If fluorescence intensity is 40% and higher relative to control, sperm cells have high level of DNA strand breaks and are genetically defective.
EFFECT: method provides higher efficiency of detection of breaks in genomic DNA of sperm cells due to their fixation on surface of bacterial cellulose through affinity of hyaluronic acid to receptors of male germ cells.
