FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry and environmental protection and can be used for waste water treatment of chemical, pharmaceutical, electroplating and dyeing industries, which contain organic dyes and are characterized by chromaticity and toxicity. Method involves oxidation of organic dyes in waste water with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a solid-phase catalyst at pH 3.0-4.0 and temperature 50-60 °C. Catalyst used is iron-aluminium-containing wastes from processing bauxite, which is pre-dissolved in 6M hydrochloric acid at temperature of 80 °C. Precipitate is centrifuged, the obtained solution is treated with 2M ammonium carbonate solution. Formed precipitate is centrifuged and calcined at temperature of 550 °C for 2 hours. Iron content in catalyst is 40.1-55.9 wt.%.
EFFECT: method enables to significantly reduce the duration of the process of purifying waste water from dyes, increases the duration of operation of the catalyst without loss of efficiency of purifying waste water.
