FIELD: inorganic substances technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of technology of inorganic substances and can be used to obtain solutions of iron chlorides used as coagulants for the purification of waste and drinking water, as well as the deposition of solid suspensions from mineral suspensions when purifying large volumes of high-turbid water. The coagulant is obtained by treating the scale of the metal heat treatment process with a chlorine-containing reagent. A mixture of 10-38 wt.% hydrochloric acid with the addition of titanium tetrachloride in an amount of 5-20 vol.% is used as a chlorine-containing reagent. The ratio of the scale mass to the volume of the chlorine-containing reagent is 1:(5-10), the temperature is 40-90°С until the solution pH reaches 1.0-1.5.
EFFECT: obtaining a coagulant based on metallurgical waste with increased efficiency in relation to suspended solids, chromium compounds and petroleum products, which form an easily filtered sediment during water treatment.
