FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and is intended for use on mining excavators. Excavator bucket bottom opening control method, in which the cable is tensioned, connected through a system of levers with a latch, by winding it on a drum using a DC electric drive with main voltage feedback and a slave current control loop with controlled limitation. Nominal angular velocity is set for the electric drive. In cable pull-up mode, current limitation is set at the level sufficient for cable slack back off. In the mode of bucket bottom opening, current limitation is set equal to the value corresponding to pull-out force of the latch. Motor current is measured in pull-out mode. Measured current is compared with the specified limitation and after the motor current exceeds the limitation specified for pulling out the latch, the current limitation corresponding to the cable pulling mode is set.

EFFECT: increasing energy efficiency of the drive by reducing the time of action of current overload when pulling out the latch.
