FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to a method of producing R-N-[[3-[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]pyridin-2-yl]sulphonyl]carbamates, which are the starting material in the industrial production of the herbicide nicosulphuron, its analogues and other biologically active organic compounds from the class of sulphonylureas. Method of producing R-N-[[3-[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]pyridin-2-yl]sulphonyl]carbamates of structural formulas Ia and Ib, in which the substituent R is methyl or ethyl, involves initial reaction of methanol or ethanol with triphosgene in the presence of an organic base in a medium of an organic solvent in an atmosphere of nitrogen or argon or in air without access to moisture. Corresponding generated methyl- or ethyl chloroformate in the medium of an organic solvent is used without isolation of each of said chloroformates in individual form in reaction with 2-(aminosulphonyl)-N,N-dimethylnicotinamide in presence of inorganic base in medium of organic solvent or its mixture with water to obtain the corresponding end product, its extraction and purification.

EFFECT: reduced production costs, increased safety of the process and obtaining target products of high quality with good output.
