FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of organic compounds and specifically to a method of producing monosulphuron-methyl of formula (I). Method involves reaction of methyl 2-(aminosulphonyl)benzoate with 2-(phenoxycarbonyl)amino-4-methylpyrimidine in a polar organic solvent in the presence of an organic base at temperature of 20-25 °C for 1-2 hours with subsequent treatment of the obtained reaction mass with water and acid to obtain the end product, its extraction and purification.
EFFECT: reducing the duration of the production method, avoiding the use of unstable, hazardous and toxic starting compounds, intermediate products and (or) reagents and high temperature, high safety and overall efficiency of the process when producing the desired high-quality monosulphuron-methyl product (I) with output of 81-86 %.
