SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to production and processing of tobacco. Dryer for drying of grassy material contains a reservoir of dryer, having inner space for placement of grassy material. Access assembly is configured to provide access to the inner space of the dryer tank. Heating system comprises at least one heating element for access unit for active heating of access unit. Access assembly comprises at least one of inlet conveyors for feeding grassy material into the inner space of the drier tank and an outlet conveyor for removing grassy material from the inner space of the drier tank. At least one heating element for the access unit comprises a conveyor heating element built into the conveyor. Proposed method comprises heating herbaceous material arranged inside drier tank. Inner surface of the drier tank is heated so that the entire inner surface of the drier tank is maintained at temperature exceeding the temperature of condensation of gases evaporated inside the drier tank during heating of the herbaceous material. Additionally, at least one of the input conveyors for feeding the grassy material into the inner space of the drier tank and the output conveyor for removing the grassy material from the inner space of the drier tank is actively heated to a temperature, at least higher than condensation temperature of gases, by means of a conveyor heating element built into said at least one of the inlet conveyors and the outlet conveyor. Disclosed is an embodiment of the method of drying grassy material.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and quality of grass material drying by maintaining the temperature of the inlet and outlet conveyors above the condensation temperature of gases.
