SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a light emitter driving circuit, an optical meter for recognizing machine-readable security features on valuable documents, comprising a light emitter driving circuit, a device for checking valuable documents and a method for driving a light-emitting load through a light-emitting circuit. Result is achieved by the fact that the light emitter drive circuit includes a pulse controller comprising a voltage input for supplying an input voltage, a voltage output for outputting a controlled output voltage for driving the light-emitting load, and a control input for supplying a control voltage for controlling the level of the output voltage, current source comprising a switching element and a voltage-controlled component in series with the light-emitting load, wherein a pulse signal is transmitted to the control output of the switching element, which provides the connection of the control output of the voltage-controlled component with the voltage source in the first switching state of the switching element and absence of connection of control output of voltage-controlled component with voltage source in second switching state of switching element, and control unit, in which the first input is connected to the first output of the voltage controlled component and the second input is connected to the second output of the voltage controlled component in order to pick up the voltage drop on the voltage controlled component in the first switching state, and the output is connected to the control input of the pulse regulator for supplying control voltage, wherein the control voltage is controlled depending on the voltage drop on the voltage-controlled component.

EFFECT: providing high-efficiency operation of a light-emitting load, in particular a LED load, in which voltage variation of a pulse regulator is controlled.
