FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used to reduce pain impulses in an amputated limb. Sciatic nerve is identified by ultrasonic scanning with a linear transducer with an operating frequency of 4–12 MHz above the injured area. Then, skin is anesthetized, followed by sensory and motor test stimulations are performed with two electrodes by applying a pulse with frequency of 50 Hz and a pulse with frequency of 2 Hz to the electrode, respectively. If the result of both test parameters is positive, bipolar pulsed radiofrequency nerve ablation (PRF) is performed with two electrodes heated to 42 °C, with voltage of electric current of 45 V and pulse frequency of 2 Hz, for 4 minutes. After the PRF, 4 ml of 1% lidocaine and 4 mg of dexamethasone are administered perineurally, and the electrodes are removed and an aseptic dressing is applied.
EFFECT: method provides more effective treatment of phantom pain and avoiding the use of opioid analgesics.
