FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dermatology and oncology and can be used for dermatoscopic diagnosis of skin new growths. Colour image of the skin containing the new growth is obtained using a dermatoscope. Image is processed and fragments of structures, such as lines, circles, lumps, points, mesh, are selected on it by analysing areas of the obtained image based on scanning lines, threshold, and binary operations. Boundaries of the new growth and covering areas covering the selected fragments of structures are determined, and squares with dimensions that do not intersect with the above covering areas are built on the skin areas free from covering areas. If on the border of the new growth there are structures from the constructed squares, then this indicates the good quality of the new growth, and presence of border ruptures and elements, not similar to squares, testifies to malignancy of new growth.
EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of diagnosing melanoma and simplifying the technique for early diagnosis of melanoma by analysing the image of the neoplasm.
