FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention is related to a method for producing a glycolide and/or lactide (co)polymer for the manufacture of absorbable surgical products. The method involves polymerization of a glycolide and/or lactide in a monomer mass under the action of a tin(II) octanoate catalyst in presence of a polymerization initiator inositol in an inert gas environment first heated to a temperature of 80-90°C with exposure for 5 minutes, then to a temperature of 200-210°C for 20 minutes. The amount of initiator is 0.01-0.2 mol.%.
EFFECT: proposed method is more effective due to simplifying the technology for producing (co)polymer and reducing the process time by half. The resulting (co)polymer has the molecular weight and melting point necessary to obtain high-quality surgical products characterized by an increased biodegradation period, and also has heat resistance, allowing the (co)polymer to be processed without premature destruction.
