SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a radiant heating element for thermal treatment of articles, more specifically metal articles, and to a method of installing radiant heating elements in a furnace for thermal treatment of metal articles. Radiant element (1) for heating furnace (200) includes first end (7), second free end (8), radiating structure (2) between first end (7) and second end (8), power supply branch pipe (5) inside radiating structure (2), first connecting leg (20) for mechanical connection of radiating structure (2) to support (3), wherein first connecting unit (25) includes first part (25a), which is fixed relative to said support (3), and second part (25b) stationary relative to said first leg (20), wherein first part (25a) and second part (25b) are mechanically connected by means of first interface (25c) so as to allow relative displacement between first part (25a) and second part (25b).
EFFECT: disclosed is a radiant heating element with a free end.
