FIELD: pyrometallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to process ores and industrial wastes to obtain target products. Method of producing graphite during processing of refractory iron-bearing ore involves reducing melting of ore with a carbonaceous reducing agent. Reducing agent used is brown coal. Melting is carried out in a bubbling slag melt with holding for an hour at temperature of 1,600 °C and subsequent cooling of the melt at rate of 66 °C/h.

EFFECT: method reduces temperature and time of obtaining graphite.
