FIELD: fuel industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a compound of formula (I), where p ranges from 2 to 4, n is at least 1 and is less than or equal to p, Ar is a polycyclic aromatic moiety based on pyrene or an isomer thereof, R1 is hydrogen or an unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl or aralkyl group, and each of R2, R3 and R4 independently represents an unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl or aralkyl group, provided that at least one of R2, R3 and R4 contains at least 6 carbon atoms. Also disclosed is a method of producing a compound of formula (I), a fuel additive composition, a fuel composition, a method of producing a fuel composition, use of a compound of formula (I) as a fluorescent marker, a method for determining the presence of an additive in a fuel composition, methods for determining concentration of an additive in a fuel composition and a kit for determining concentration of a compound of formula (I).
EFFECT: disclosed compound has useful properties of marker compounds suitable for use in compositions of fuel additives.
