FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fuel composition and a method for the production of a fuel composition. The method includes obtaining of quaternary ammonium salt by reaction of (a) tertiary amine with the formula R1R2R3N, where R1, R2 and R3, each independently, is an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl group, with (b) an alkylating agent activated by acid in the presence of (c) a compound with the formula HOOCXCOO-(R4O)n-R5, where R4 is an optionally substituted alkylene group, R5 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl or aryl group, X is an alkylene group substituted with alkyl or alkenyl, and n is equal to 0 or a positive integer, provided that n is not equal to 0, if R5 is hydrogen; and mixing of quaternary ammonium salt with fuel; where n is a positive integer and/or X is CH2CHR or CHRCH2, where R is an alkyl or alkenyl group with from 20 to 24 carbon atoms.
