FIELD: microwave equipment.
SUBSTANCE: waveguide directional coupler is made in a metal housing consisting of a main and an auxiliary waveguide of rectangular section, partially connected along an adjacent wall, which housings are made in the form of combined bases and covers, and the outputs of which are made in the form of flanges with through holes, and the obtained combination of cavities of the main and auxiliary waveguides form primary and secondary sections of waveguide channels, respectively. Electromagnetic coupling between them is formed by means of through communication holes made on adjacent wall of waveguides in two rows and at equal distance from axis of symmetry of waveguide channels. One of the outputs of the secondary section of the waveguide channel is terminated with a resistive load performing the function of an absorbing element. Second of the outputs of the secondary section of the waveguide channel is oriented in the direction of the magnetic field lines, the holes in the rows of the through communication holes are located symmetrically relative to the axis of symmetry of the waveguide channels, and the absorbing element is made in the form of a tetrahedral prism, in the faces of which there are isosceles triangles, wherein prism height is equal to half the length of the auxiliary waveguide section in the housing oriented along the axis of the adjacent wall.
