SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an oral composition for treating or preventing a viral infection containing a compound of formula XXVIII or compound 1 or 2 specified below, as well as to a method of treating or preventing a viral infection, comprising oral administration of an effective amount of such a composition to a subject in need thereof. Y is O; R2 is hydroxy; R3 is hydroxy; R6, R6', R6'' and R6''' are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl, amino, halogen, C1-C10 alkyl or C1-C10 alkoxy.
EFFECT: use of the invention enables to effectively treat viral infections, such as togaviruses, bunyaviruses, arenaviruses, coronaviruses, flaviviruses, picornaviruses, Eastern, Western and Venezuelan equine encephalitis (EEE, WEE and VEE respectively), Chikungunya fever (CHIK), Ebola, influenza, RSV and Zika virus infections.
