SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nutritional compositions for an infant, a toddler or children aged 3 to 8 years. Disclosed is use of a nutritional composition containing 2'-fucosyllactose (2'FL), for improving the gastrointestinal barrier in an infant, which is a child under age of 12 months, in a toddler which is a child at age of 1 to less than 3 years, or in child of 3 years to less than 8 years. Said improvement of the gastrointestinal barrier represents an improved barrier protection. 2'FL is present in amount of 0.25–1.9 g/l or 0.15–1.5 g/100 g of the composition in terms of dry substance weight, preferably in amount of 0.75–1.65 g/l or 0.19–1.5 g/100 g of the composition in terms of dry substance weight.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to improve protection of the gastrointestinal barrier in an infant, a toddler or children aged 3 to 8 years.
