FIELD: defence equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to defence equipment, in particular to ammunition with finished steel fragments arranged in shell housing. Proposed method consists in initiation of explosive charge placed in cavity of composite shell. During detonation of explosive charge and formation of explosion products, finished fragments move in air to hit the target. Composite shell consists of two cylindrical shells: inner one, adjacent to explosive charge, which is located in it, and made of light-alloy or porous material, and thin-walled metal outer shell. On top of the inner shell there placed and fixed are finished fragments of a cubic shape from low-carbon steel, which are covered with an outer shell. Specific energy of explosive transformation and density of explosive charge are selected so that impact wave acting on fragments provides safety of finished fragments during their hardening in process of explosive throwing.
EFFECT: increased Brinell hardness of thrown finished steel fragments.
