FIELD: optical instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical instrumentation and can be used in photometry, experimental nuclear physics, in filters for cleaning air from bioaerosols, etc. Disclosed method of making a light reflector includes forming a workpiece from polytetrafluoroethylene and its modifying treatment. Workpiece is formed from a plate of block polytetrafluoroethylene of grade “Ф-4” with size of 100×100×10 mm by micromilling and then subjected to radiation treatment by exposure to gamma radiation of 60Co isotope in air at temperature of 55–65 °C to absorbed dose in range of 0.1 to 15 kGy at dose rate 3±0.5 Gy/s.
EFFECT: obtaining a light reflector based on polytetrafluoroethylene with high light-reflecting ability in the wavelength range from 250 to 850 nm.
