FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vanadium flow accumulators, in particular to methods and devices for determining the degree of degradation of vanadium flow accumulator using a fiber Fresnel refractometer. Disclosed is a method for determining the degree of degradation of the capacity of a flowing vanadium battery in-situ and a device for determining the degree of degradation of the capacity of a flowing vanadium battery in-situ, which consists of a cell for measuring voltage of an open circuit with graphite electrodes, through which anolyte and catholyte of a flow vanadium battery, separated by a membrane, flow. Said cell is connected to a fiber Fresnel refractometer using a single-mode optical fiber, the end of which is immersed in the anolyte. Fiber Fresnel refractometer is configured to determine the power of the incident and reflected light.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the degree of degradation of measuring the state of charge while simplifying measurements.
