SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to processing of live fish. System includes a conveyor unit divided into segments with provision of a gap between them, first image capturing means located on one side of the conveyor assembly and configured to optically scan the first side of the live fish during its transportation along said conveyor assembly, second image capturing means is arranged on the opposite side of the conveyor assembly relative to said first means. Second means is located near the gap and is configured to capture, through said gap, images of a second side of the live fish opposite to the first side, during transportation of live fish along said conveyor unit. Processor is configured to create a visual display of the second side of the live fish using images captured by the second image capturing means. Using the system, a method for examining live fish is carried out.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides images of both sides of fish so that its external defects can be visually detected.
