FIELD: physical and chemical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physical and chemical processes for obtaining thermal energy, hydrogen and oxygen during electrolysis of water. In the method, the interelectrode space is filled with a weak aqueous solution of an alkali and voltage is supplied until a stable plasma electrolytic process appears, followed by removal of a heated gaseous phase – hydrogen from the cathode region and oxygen from the anode region. Alkali used is potassium hydroxide, which is added to purified water at ratio of 1:10 to obtain an aqueous solution of alkali with density of 1,030 kg/m3. Brass cathode and the stainless steel anode with the same diameters are installed coaxially to each other with the possibility of changing the distance between them from 10 to 30 mm. Areas of contact of the anode and cathode with the aqueous alkali solution have ratio of 1:2, respectively. Voltage of 220 V and pulse current of 1.68 A are supplied to electrodes.
EFFECT: higher thermal power output of hydrogen generator.
