Asparagopsis oil composition containing at least one exogenous oil and at least one antimethanogenic component, where at least one antimethanogenic component contains bromoform. Fodder additive for reducing the total gas and/or methane formation in ruminants, said additive contains an effective amount of the Asparagopsis oil composition. Fodder for ruminant animals, where said fodder is added with a fodder additive containing an effective amount of Asparagopsis oil composition.
