FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed are versions of a method of producing a sialylated oligosaccharide using a genetically modified cell which contains a heterologous sialyltransferase, wherein said heterologous sialyltransferase has α-2,3-sialyltransferase activity and/or α-2,6-sialyltransferase activity. Sialylated oligosaccharide is selected from the group consisting of 3'-sialyllactose, 6'-sialyllactose, sialyllacto-N-tetraose a (LST-a), sialyllacto-N-tetraose b (LST-b), sialyllacto-N-tetraose c (LST-c) and disialyllacto-N-tetraose (DSLNT).
EFFECT: invention provides effective production of sialylated oligosaccharide.
