FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a computer-aided method and a device for predicting the development of efficiency degradation in technical equipment of a chemical industrial plant. Described is computer-aided method (100) for predicting the development of efficiency degradation in equipment of a chemical industrial plant, involving: a) obtaining (110) a future value of at least one operating parameter of the equipment, wherein said at least one operating parameter affects the reduction of efficiency of the equipment, and wherein at least one operating parameter is known and/or can be controlled throughout the prediction horizon, so that the future value of the at least one operating parameter can be determined on the prediction horizon; b) applying (120) a prediction model to estimate a future value of at least one key performance indicator within a prediction horizon based on a set of input data, including a future value of at least one operating parameter, wherein the prediction model is parameterized or trained based on a set of samples including historical data for at least one process variable and at least one operating parameter, wherein at least one process variable is used to determine at least one key performance indicator, and c) predicting (130) the development of efficiency degradation in the equipment within the prediction horizon based on the future value of at least one key performance indicator. Also described is a device for predicting the development of reduction in efficiency in equipment of a chemical production plant, an element of a computer program for controlling said device, which, when executed by the data processing unit, is configured to perform steps of computerized method (100), and a computer-readable medium containing said program element.
