METHOD OF DETECTING DEFECTS OF PIPELINE AND TIE-INS INTO PIPELINE AND DEVICE FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC F17D5/00 G01N27/82

Abstract RU 2742631 C2

FIELD: pipeline transport.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used to detect location of defects of main and other pipelines, as well as tie-ins into pipeline. Peculiar feature of invention consists in that three-component magnetometric antenna continuously measuring three orthogonal projections of gradient of constant magnetic field with subsequent calculation of root-mean-square value corresponding to scalar of volumetric gradient of magnetic induction above surveyed pipeline and along it. Simultaneously three three-component electrometric sensors measure three orthogonal projections of alternating magnetic field from a generator of known frequency and (or) industrial frequency connected to the pipeline from electrochemical protection of the pipeline. Then scalar of alternating magnetic field is calculated over same section of pipeline. Obtained scalar values of constant and alternating gradients of magnetic induction are used for formation of magnetogram. Magnetogram is recorded in solid-state memory in accordance with change in coordinates obtained from built-in GPS-GLONASS module. Locality containing defects is detected on magnetogram on set of features. Besides the device for the method implementation is suggested.

EFFECT: proposed method and device enable to obtain information on two channels using different physical methods; this makes the device non-critical to spatial position, increases noise immunity to oscillations and provides mutual correlation of useful signals; method and device can be used on unmanned aerial vehicles or submarines.
