FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly to production of stainless steel powder by spraying high-alloy steel melt with water and a device providing a stable efficient process of spraying multicomponent powder materials. Spraying of melt is carried out with water in inert atmosphere at ratio of water to melt in ratio (4–6):1, followed by dehydration and drying in vacuum to obtain stainless steel powder containing, wt.%: carbon not more than 0.03, chrome 17.0–22.0, nickel 9.0–13.0, silicon 0.2–1.3, manganese not more than 0.40, phosphorus not more than 0.06, sulphur not more than 0.04, oxygen not more than 0.05, iron and unavoidable impurities – the rest, with granulometric composition, mcm: from 100.0 to 160.0 – 0–5.0 wt. %, to 45.0 – 27–48.0 wt.%, from 45.0 to 100.0 – the rest. Device for production of stainless steel powder comprises intake vessel, calibrated hole, protective sleeve and nozzle assembly. In the spraying chamber there is a diffuser, the upper part of which is made in the form of a truncated cone with an inlet hole of diameter A, and the lower part is made in the form of an inverted truncated cone with an outlet hole of diameter B. Diffuser is located at a distance S from the nozzle assembly, and the ratio of the height L1 of the upper part of the diffuser to the height L2 of the lower part of diffuser is 0.2–0.5.

EFFECT: obtaining stainless steel powder with low content of harmful impurities.
