FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing a hydrocarbon resin, in which a monomer mixture which contains an aromatic component containing indene and/or C1-4-alkylindene, and the cyclic diolefin component containing the cyclic diolefin compound is polymerised by heating to a polymerisation temperature of at least 180°C to obtain a product stream containing a hydrocarbon resin, wherein oligomers containing links originating from a cyclic diolefin compound and/or links originating from an aromatic component are separated from the product stream and again introduced into the monomer mixture, wherein the hydrocarbon resin at the annealing step is heated for period of 15 minutes to 240 hours at temperature of 150 to 300°C. Described also is a hydrocarbon resin obtained using said method, containing from 1 to 20 wt.% of indene and/or C1-4 alkylindene per total weight of the hydrocarbon mixture. Described is a method of producing a hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin by hydrogenating said resin. Described is a hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin having a residual content of aromatic compounds of less than 0.2%. Described is the use of said resins as an adhesion promoter or tackifier in hot-melt adhesives, in particular in hot-melt adhesives based on metallocene olefins, an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, amorphous polyalphaolefins or styrene block copolymers, and/or in adhesives containing a solvent, in particular in adhesives containing a solvent based on styrene block copolymers. Described is the use of a hydrocarbon resin as a modifier in rubber products, in particular, to improve the mechanical and dynamic properties of rubber products, in bitumen, in particular, as an additive and/or as a water-repellent agent in bitumen, in particular for asphalt, or as a modifier and/or a water-repellent agent in printing inks. Described is the use of a hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin as an additive in lacquer, in plastic, in particular, as a modifier in plastic, rubber, bitumen, in particular as a water repellent in bitumen, for example, for a roofing sheet, in polypropylene films, in particular, as a modifier and/or water repellent in polypropylene films, in particular in biaxially oriented polypropylene films, in cosmetics or as an adhesion increasing substance, in adhesive compositions, in particular, for use in production of hygiene items, as well as for use in food packaging.
EFFECT: obtaining maximum light hydrocarbon resins, which also have good compatibility with base polymers, in particular with metallocene polyolefins, amorphous poly-alpha-olefins and/or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers of hot-melt adhesives, and thus act as tackifier substances.
