FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to spinal surgery and is used in treating patients with congenital or acquired spinal deformity. Surgical intervention is performed from a dorsal bilateral approach. After exposing the posterior structures of the spine, transpedicular screws are inserted into the vertebral bodies. Screw position is monitored using an electro-optical converter; corrective vertebrotomy is performed. Components of the transpedicular spinal fixation system are mounted on screws while simultaneously correcting the deformation using a corrective manoeuvre. Segmental resected part of spine is closed to contact without diastasis. Through the laminectomy area, two radicular retractors are placed on the anterior surface of the vertebral bodies within the vertebrotomy area, and X-ray control is performed in two projections. Location of the osteotomized spinal vertebrae, deformation of the spinal canal and compression of the spinal cord are assessed.
EFFECT: method provides reduced risk of spinal canal deformation and spinal cord compression due to the fact that radicular retractors installed on the anterior surface of the vertebral bodies in the area of vertebrotomy enable to perform mechanical and X-ray control of the position of the vertebrae during the surgical intervention without introducing foreign objects into the vertebral body and without damaging the vertebral bodies.
