FIELD: medicine; traumatology; orthopedics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to increase hyaline cartilage regeneration in the area of knee joint defect. Cartilage tissue proliferation is photobiomodulated by low-intensity coherent radiation at wave length 632.8 nm. Knee joint capsule is incised. Disposable conductor needle is inserted to the area of hyaline cartilage damage. Disposable optical light guide “КИВЛ-01” is installed in the conductor needle, which is connected to the main light guide of the apparatus “АЛОК-1” so that the output radiation from the end of the light guide “КИВЛ-01” is directed to the area of hyaline cartilage damage. Exposure is 2–6 mW for 10–30 minutes in amount of 10 to 20 procedures.

EFFECT: method provides increased regeneration of hyaline cartilage in the area of surface defect of knee joint due to use of waveguide for direct minimally invasive irradiation of damaged area of hyaline cartilage.
