FIELD: electrical engineering; measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurements in the field of electrical engineering and can be used to determine the point of phase-to-phase damage on a power transmission line with branches. Point of phase-to-phase damage is determined from measurements of two devices installed at the ends of the power transmission line. Phase currents or phase voltages are measured in each device and linearly converted into a wave process signal, based on which the moment of arrival of the primary wave to the device is recorded. Information on the moment of arrival of the primary wave to it is received from another device. Distance to the expected point of phase-to-phase damage on the power transmission line is determined, which is compared with the distances to its branches. If this distance is equal to the distance to any of the branches, then this branch is considered to be damaged and according to the signal of the wave process the moments of arrival of waves following the primary one are fixed, and duration of intervals between them and the moment of arrival of the primary wave to the device is estimated. Information on durations of intervals between the moments of arrival of waves following the primary one and the moment of arrival of the primary wave is received from another device. Pair of equal ones is identified among said durations of intervals of two devices. True distance to the point of phase-to-phase damage is the distance to the point in the damaged branch, to which the wave will reach from the point of its connection to the power transmission line for half the duration of the interval of the said detected pair. Otherwise, the distance to the assumed point of phase-to-phase damage on the power transmission line is accepted as true.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the distance to the location of phase-to-phase damage on a power transmission line (PTL) with branches.
