FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in manual underwater wet welding and surfacing of metal structures from carbon and low-alloy steels. Coated electrode consists of steel rod and coating containing components in the following ratio, wt.%: complex alkali metal fluoride 20–38, rare-earth metal fluoride 18–35, rutile concentrate 18–24, alkali-earth metal fluoride 12–18, alkali-earth metal carbonate 7–12, nickel powder 2.5–5, manganese powder 2.5–5.5, ferrosilicozirconium 3–7, aluminum powder 2–3.5.
EFFECT: coated electrode increases strength and impact strength of the weld during underwater wet welding of metal structures from carbon and low-alloy steels due to improved protection of the weld pool against oxidation and formation of slag inclusions in the weld, as well as modification of the weld metal microstructure during alloying with rare-earth metals.
