FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to oncology, and can be used to predict the development of recurrence after combined treatment of oral cancer by examining patient’s tumour tissue. Expression level of ST6GAL2 and the presence or absence of extranodal tumour growth in the metastatic lymph node are determined. Obtained values are substituted into the formula for calculating the value of F of the logistic regression equation. Further, a probability of developing a relapse P is calculated. If the value P is equal to or more than 0.5, the development of a relapse is predicted. If P is less than 0.5, no recurrence is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides more accurate and reliable prediction of recurrence following the combined treatment of oral cancer by determining the expression level of the ST6GAL2 gene and the presence or absence of extranodal tumour growth.
