FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: use to reduce deformation and resistance in metal bodies having a lithium layer and a metal substrate. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that the target is exposed to radiation of charged particles so that the target emits neutrons and multiple bubbles are formed in the target and then the target is exposed to additional radiation of charged particles so that the target emits neutrons and between the lithium layer and a metal substrate, a lithium compound layer is formed to a size sufficient to reduce a plurality of bubbles in an amount and/or size, by acting on the target with proton fluence of at least 0.5 × 1019 per square centimetre (cm-2).
EFFECT: possibility of reducing the probability of formation of bubbles and/or reducing the size of bubbles already formed in metal bodies having a lithium layer and a metal substrate, which are exposed to radiation of charged particles.
