FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of catalysts for cleaning gases from harmful impurities and can be used, in particular, for cleaning gas mixtures from ozone in water treatment systems, waste water treatment, semiconductor processing in microelectronic industry, disinfection in medicine and agriculture, as well as for cleaning gas mixtures from ozone in systems of collective and individual protection of respiratory organs, emissions of industrial enterprises and for other industrial and environmental purposes. Described is a catalyst for decomposing ozone, containing compounds of d-elements, wherein the catalyst is based on silica gel of the KSKG grade, which is modified with particles of nickel compounds of nanometre size, wherein the nickel content in catalyst is 6–8 wt.%. Method of producing said catalyst is characterized by that catalyst precursors based on KSKG silica gel are synthesized by impregnating it with an aqueous solution of a divalent nickel nitrate salt, followed by drying in air at 110 °C, precursors are treated with aqueous solutions of ammonia with concentration of 2 mol/l for 24 hours and calcined in air for 4 hours at temperature of 300 °C.
EFFECT: improving fire safety while maintaining efficiency of cleaning gas streams from ozone.
