FIELD: medicine; dentistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use in determining normal values of parameters of teeth and dentures and their ratios in men and women. Patient undergoes dental and dental anthropometry. Mesiodistal dimensions of the upper and lower jaws, distances in the area of the Pont's points between the teeth are measured 1.3–2.3, 1.4–2.4, 1.6–2.6, 3.3–4.3, 3.4–4.4, 3.6–4.6, as well as the width of the apical bases of the upper and lower jaws. Average sum of sizes of 12 teeth of upper and lower jaws for men and women is determined. On the basis of the obtained results, the indices are determined as the ratio of the average sum of sizes of 12 teeth of the upper jaw to the average sum of sizes of 12 teeth of the lower jaw. When obtaining indices 1.11 in males and 1.09 in females, obtaining indices of more than 1.13 in males and more than 1.11 in females indicates the need for separation of upper jaw teeth, obtaining indices less than 1.09 in males and less than 1.07 in females indicates the need for separation of teeth of the lower jaw.

EFFECT: method due to determination of normal ratios of sizes of teeth and dentures separately for men and women allows to select tactics of orthodontic or prosthetic treatment in case of mismatch of mesiodistal sizes of teeth of upper and lower jaws.
