SUBSTANCE: invention relates to multi-stringed folk musical instruments with bass strings on a neck and a row of high strings on a hollow body, which combines elements of a zither and a lute. Bandura comprises a hollow resonating body with a soundboard with a protruding neck with bass strings and a plurality of high strings, upper soundboard is divided into two parts installed at an angle to each other equal to or close to 90°, on one of parts of which neck with bass strings is installed, and on the other part of the soundboard there are high strings, at the same time the body in the cross section has the shape of sector in 1/4 or 3/4 of a circle, oval or ellipse, which is limited by radii, along which parts of the upper soundboard are located.
