SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in making a water-soluble coating which prevents swallowing of a substrate. Coating composition contains a mixture of water-soluble resins, including polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), having viscosity of 4% solution at 20 °C of 25 cP or less, and a polyacrylic acid (PAA) homopolymer having a weighted average molecular weight of 1000–300,000 Da, and a disgusting agent. Ratio of PVOH to PAA in the composition ranges from 80:20 to 20:80 by weight. Invention also discloses an embodiment of the coating composition, a coating, a method of applying the coating composition, a method of preventing swallowing of a substrate, an article, a kit and a coated article.

EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to increase adhesion of the coating to surfaces of substrates, to prevent swallowing of the substrate due to rapid transfer of the chemical substance to the surface of soft tissues, such as lips, cheeks, tongue, with resistance to easy transfer to wet hands.
