FIELD: textile.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates generally to the technical field of determining through electronic analysis of the processing that can be carried out for an article made from textile material (for example, using a domestic appliance). Described is a method and a corresponding system for determining treatment, which can be performed for an article from a textile material. This method comprises steps of performing a first scanning on a section of an article made from a textile material using electromagnetic radiation E1 of the near infrared range (NIR) to obtain a first signal S1 indicating the properties of the textile material on the scanned area, and a second scanning with electromagnetic radiation E2 of the visible range to obtain a second signal S2 indicative of the colour of the textile material on the scanned area. Further, this method comprises transmitting said first signal S1 and second signal S2 to analysis electronic means 3 to determine a processing program, which can be made for an article made from textile material based on analysis of said first signal S1 and second signal S2. Further, this method includes providing information I on a certain processing program to control unit 5 of a household appliance and/or user interface 4. Invention also describes similar methods and systems for recognizing the type of textile material, as well as recognizing and classifying contaminants on said textile material.

EFFECT: disclosed are a method and a system for determining treatment, which can be performed by a household appliance or a user with an article made from textile material.
