FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polymer-based microfiltration membranes. Disclosed is a microfiltration membrane based on an organic polymer, which has a spongy loofah structure, which is a fibrous frame structure formed by intertwined in three dimensions and interconnected polymer fibres, and a structure of interpenetrating pores in the form of a three-dimensional network of pores distributed in the fibrous frame structure, wherein the polymer is selected from hydrophilic and lipophilic polymers, the fibrous framework structure is completely formed from the polymer; volumetric porosity of membrane is 50–95%, and the average pore size is 0.1–10 mcm. Membrane is also characterized by the fact that the diameter of the polymer cross-section of the individual polymer fibre between two connection points in the fibrous frame structure of the membrane is less than or equal to 2 mcm, length of separate polymer fibre between two points of connection in fibrous frame structure of membrane is less than 10 mcm, and the cross-section of the membrane contains mesh pores distributed in the direction of the thickness of the membrane, and pores of other types are absent. Also disclosed is a method of making said membrane, use thereof and a functional material containing said membrane.

EFFECT: disclosed membrane has high-permeability through pore structure and three-dimensional fibrous mesh structure, has high separation characteristics and structural stability and can be obtained using an efficient and cheap method.
