FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for assessing the wound healing potential of a population of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), selecting a population of MSCs for producing a population of stem cells in cGMP conditions and for subsequent pharmaceutical administration, selecting a population of MSCs to form a main cell bank and identifying tissue suitable as a starting material for producing a population of MSCs for pharmaceutical use. Methods include determining in the medium the level of all four proteins selected from the group consisting of angiopoietin 1 (Ang-1), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hepatocyte growth factor B (HGF), secreted into the medium by said MSCs.

EFFECT: methods can be used to identify a tissue donor containing MSCs, or subsequently for a population of MSCs suitable for therapeutic applications, such as wound healing.
