FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: method relates to experimental aerothermodynamics, in particular to laboratory test benches for investigation of glow discharge parameters for their comparison with numerical simulation. In the method of producing low-pressure self-organized plasma, pressure in the test chamber and constant high-voltage supply to the electrodes are set in the test chamber between the oppositely directed electrodes. Further, the voltage and current in the discharge gap are measured from the ballast resistance and the shunt resistance, respectively, and the plasma combustion visualization is also recorded by a photomultiplier. Pressure in the test chamber is set within 3-6 Torr, supply voltage on the electrodes is within 400-2,500 V, wherein moment of signal availability is registered by photomultiplier, after that supply current is smoothly decreased till uniform constant voltage signal appears in discharge gap.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining self-organizing plasma both in stationary conditions and in flows with quasi-stationary parameters.
