SUBSTANCE: combustible heat source for an aerosol-generating article, wherein the combustible heat source comprises: carbon, an igniter in the form of an alkali-earth metal peroxide and a binder containing a combination of carboxymethyl cellulose and at least one non-cellulose film-forming polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl acetate and graft copolymers thereof.

EFFECT: fast ignition and improved combustion properties, mechanical integrity even after exposure to ambient conditions.
