FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, namely to an electronic module configured to be attached to a drug delivery device. Drug delivery device can be an autoinjector or a manual or semiautomatic device. Drug delivery device can be an injection device, such as a pen syringe. Present invention further relates to a mechanical interface between an electronic module and a drug delivery device. In particular, the present invention relates to mechanical coding of an electronic module for coupling with a mechanical counter coding of a drug delivery device. Present invention also relates to a modular system comprising an electronic module and further comprising a drug delivery device. Electronic module configured to be attached to the proximal end of the drug delivery device in a predetermined fastening configuration, wherein the drug delivery device comprises an elongated body extending in a longitudinal direction and comprising a distal end and a proximal end, wherein the electronic module provides a mechanical coding comprising a mechanical coding element for engagement with a mechanical counter coding element, which relates to a mechanical counter coding provided at the proximal end of the drug delivery device. One of the mechanical coding element and the mechanical counter coding element has a protrusion passing in the longitudinal direction, and the other one of the mechanical coding element and the mechanical counter coding element has a recess. When the geometrical shape of the projection does not coincide with the geometrical shape of the recess, or when the position of the projection in the plane transverse to the longitudinal direction does not coincide with the position of the recess in the transverse plane, or when the longitudinal length of the projection is greater than the longitudinal length of the recess, the mechanical coding and the mechanical counter-coding are capable of preventing the electronic module from being attached to the proximal end of the drug delivery device in a predetermined fastening configuration. Drug delivery device comprises a housing, a drive mechanism and a mechanical counter-encoding. Body comprises a distal end and a proximal end, wherein the proximal end is configured to attach the above electronic module in a predetermined fastening configuration. Drive mechanism is configured to deliver a dose of a drug from the distal end. Mechanical counter-coding is provided at the proximal end and comprises a mechanical counter-coding element for engagement with the mechanical coding element, which relates to the mechanical coding of the electronic module. Modular system comprises above-described electronic module and above described drug delivery device. Mechanical coding of the electronic module matches the mechanical counter coding of the drug delivery device, and wherein the mechanical encoding is mechanically coupled with the mechanical counter-encoding when the electronic module and the drug delivery device are in a predetermined fastening configuration.
EFFECT: reducing the risk of improper coupling of the electronic module with the drug delivery device.
