FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of polyurethane (rigid or flexible) foam with reduced emission of aldehydes, and more specifically to polyurethane (PU) foam suitable for use in vehicles, for example, in internal parts of cars. Described is a reaction mixture for preparing a polyurethane foam containing a polyfunctional isocyanate and an isocyanate-reacting compound, as well as an aldehyde scavenger and at least one catalyst, where the aldehyde scavenger contains a compound of the following formula (I):

where R1 and R2 are connected to each other to form 10-member ring structure consisting of 2 rings, and contain unsaturations and/or heteroatoms, as well as an aromatic ring. Described also is a method of producing polyurethane foam, which includes steps of preparing a reaction mixture, adding an aldehyde scavenger to the reaction mixture and curing the reaction mixture containing an aldehyde scavenger.

EFFECT: foam obtained from a reaction mixture containing an aldehyde scavenger of formula (I) is characterized by reduced release of aldehydes, particularly release of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and propionaldehyde while maintaining the mechanical properties of the foam.
