FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to pathological anatomy and ophthalmology, and can be used for preparation of flat preparations of choroid of an eyeball in experimental albino animals. Eyeball is enucleated and fixed with intravitreal 10% buffered neutral formalin solution. Eyeball is immersed in the same solution for 24 hours. Anterior segment of the eyeball is dissected; a lens and a vitreous body are removed; the neuroretina is separated with exposure of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Method involves combined staining of RPE in situ with application of RPE cell borders impregnation with silver salts with contrast staining with Harris haematoxylin. Optic cup is circumferentially clipped within a flat part of the ciliary body; the optic nerve is dissected together with the optic disc; the choroid with the RPE layer is separated from the sclera along the entire length. It is dissected by radial incisions and placed under a cover glass with the help of a hydrophilic medium.

EFFECT: invention enables to assess the qualitative and quantitative changes of RPE cells on the entire area of the choroid.
